Mr. Hester’s 9th grade Homeroom letter to Parents and StudentsWelcome to the 2020-2021 school year! I am your student’s Homeroom/Advisory/SEL teacher.I am very excited to get to know your child, as we all work together to make this an outstanding school year!Is there anything you’d like for me to know about your child to help make sure this is a successful school year for you and your family? My Remind for this Advisory class will be set up after my first Homeroom Meeting August 17th 9:25am-10:10am.

Zoom Meeting Room---ATTENDANCE EVERY CLASS, EVERY DAY IS EXPECTED. Please work your schedule out to be present that attendance can be recorded and pertinent information can be delivered accordingly.             

  • Check records: Please go into Powerschool to make sure our records indicate the correct grade level and ID # for your student, as well as update any and all Phone number(s) and email addresses where you can be reached.

  • Student schedules are now visible in Powerschool. Students will be provided an opportunity to share any concerns regarding their schedule via the 2020 2021 MPHS Schedule Change Request Form. The form will OPEN on Thursday August 6, 2020. Counselors will BEGIN TO PROCESS schedule change requests on Monday, August 10, 2020. The form will CLOSE at 5:00 PM on Friday, August 21, 2020. When the form opens, please do NOT submit the form multiple times and/or email the counselor, as it will slow down the process. Thank you for your continued support of MPHS.

  • Remote Plan/Attendance

    • Our entire district will begin the school year with all students working remotely/from home.

    • We will take attendance each day, in each class. We really want your student to log on every single day to participate in class. Please help make sure your student logs in daily, and when he/she cannot attend, contact the teacher.

  • Child Nutrition

    • CMS will continue to provide meals for students during remote learning.

    • Want to make sure you know that from August 17th to August 31st, you can pick up breakfast and lunch daily from one of 40 schools (List of schools). The list of schools will also be posted on CMS’ website soon.

    • After those first two weeks, CMS will start it’s “CMS Eats at Home” program. Beginning September 1st, CMS will offer meal bundles of 5 breakfasts & 5 lunches for students. These bundles can be picked up or delivered to your bus stop once a week.

    • Do you need a meal bundle?

      •  (IF YES or MAYBE)

      • Starting August 11th, you would go to https://www.paypams.com to sign up to receive meal bundles of 5 breakfasts and 5 lunches for each of your students. Starting September 1st, the meal bundles will be available for pick up or delivery to your bus stoponce each week based on your students’ assigned cohort (A, B, C or full remote academy) schedule, but you will have to order in advance for either pick up or delivery.

      • If you don’t already have a PayPams account it is easy to set one up – just follow the instructions on the site. It can also be done on your smartphone. 

      • Lots more information about this program, including cost and CEP and free & reduced eligibility, can be found on CMS’ website at www.cms.k12.nc.us – don’t forget to sign up for meals for your students!)
